Yep, you pretty well have to remove the trim assembly to replace it. You can do three of the bolts with it on the boat, but the last one is buried. Or you can remove the engine from the boat if your trim pins are frozen in place and do it that way. If you have the older style they require 6 bolts and a pin to get out, plus you have to remove 2 of the engine mounting bolts and remove one of the transom plates in most cases to get it out. Although if the bolts aren't rusted out completely you can normally snake your way into to remove the trim pump bolts.
