I ran a 248 offshore from 86' through 94'. It is the best boat I've ever owned overall, it has enough deadrise and still rides economically at cruise. I've had that hull 140 miles offshore once and over 100 miles many times. I almost lost mine once on a winter snapper trip to the fault of the plastic through hull fittings....replaced them all with bronze afterwards. Also had a near miss in huge seas with faulty fuel pickups that had been silver soldered instead of welded....one broke and fell in the tank and the other cracked and sucked air, fixed that problem with heli-arc'd stainless pickups. Many wiring problems due to automotive grade wires.....replaced with tinned marine grade stuff. After those first few problems, it was trouble free for many years. We sold the boat looking about as good as new, not a single stress crack on the hull and over 2000 offshore hours.
