Shift interrupt switch stuck when you shifted it. Check your shift linkage and I'll bet you'll find that it is stiff and not moveing freely. It will be a small black switch mounted on the starboard side under the carbs and attatched directly to the shift linkage where the rod goes under neath the powerhead. This is a common issue on a first run as the linkage will get stiff and bind and it will shut 3 of your cylinders down and make it run like CRAP! If mine was together right now I would take a picture and show it to you in a photo. Most likely you just need to pull the linkage off and clean and grease it, but you may need a new switch as they do go bad from time to time. The quick test is to go out and pop the switch out from it's holder, just spread the 2 tabs and pull it outward. If the engine runs on all 6 again then go through your linkage, if not unplug the switch from the starboard pack and you'll most likely get your spark back and not be able to shut her down.

Here's a picture of the switch your looking for.
