I've only looked at one custom job before, but talked to a couple of people about added t-tops.
Their unknowing problem finding out later was a weak floor and/or extra needed support.
It seems that also connecting to the console helped to reduce fatigue and prolonge the tops effective lifespan.
I don't have any experience in this, only hearsay.
The one custom top I looked at simply had a flat piece welded to the tops uprights and was bolted to the console.
