Default Power Tilt & Trim leak

As you may or may not no I went out the other day and the tilt ran out of oil.
It had leaked all out.
At that time I thought it was the tilt motor that had rotted thur as it it pretty rusty.

I have gone out side and wanted to make sure that there was no salt water in the unit, so I refilled with oil and ran the pump to flush out.
And what do you no the Motor cover did not rot thur like I had thought!!
The round cap on the left side bottom piston came loose and was leaking!!
This happened to me last year also?? then put a new O ring and retighted, But I guess it vibrated lose again??

Bs, told me about this problem the first time it happened, It seems that this is a problem with Yamaha and its always the same cover getting lose??
So I will now be checking this all the time!! To make sure it stays tight!!

I will be removing the tilt motor for the winter to clean all the rust off and paint it with some rust converter, then top coat.

CB sugested that I rubber coat it with some of that rubber stuff you can put on your tool handles?? I think its a good idea!

Any other thoughts on this??

Its $200 for a new motor, and $1200 for a whole new trim unit.

I have found 3 used tirm & Tilt units from $175 to $400. I was thinking of getting a hole unit so i would always have it just incase. But now that I don't need the motor and the holidays coming i am going to wait on this Idea and get the old motor all cleaned up.
