Used to be a Mets fan. Grampa helped build the Navy shipyards in WW2, so he was a big Brooklyn Dodgers fan. Then when they broke his heart and moved to LA - he became a loyal Mets fan. So me too.

Meet the Mets... Meet the Mets
Step right up and beat the Mets
Bring the kiddies...Bring the wife
You're guaranteed to have the worst time of your life
Cause the Mets can't pitch the ball
Watch the home runs go over the wall
etc.

A post from last year tells it like it is today IMHO:

Nah... not a fan since the strike back in 94 or so.
Bunch of overpaid primadonnas pregnant dogin for more money, to play a game, from billionaires that use my tax dollars to build stadiums so they can make more billions off poor slobs like me. Whole scene is a mess - lousy role models for kids, teaching all the wrong values.

Never was a yankee fan. Actually liked the Red Sox back in the day they had a Long Island potatohead named Yaz.

I always root for the yankees to play the mets in a 7 game subway series, because it keeps a lot of not so serious anglers off the water on those nights. Same reason I used to go out on partyboats on Sundays in the fall - leave the drunken fools at home to watch football. Yep ... I am a grumpy old man.
