I concur. You shouldn't need an electric pump to keep up. Make sure you have 3/8" fuel line and that there are no air leaks anywhere. If there is an air leak it will be most noticeable at idle. Get a small tank and hook it directly to the pump and see if it still does it. If it fixs it then you have a fuel delivery problem, if not you have a fuel pump problem. Start off with diagnosing the problem, then fix it.
