Thank you all for the sentiments.

An update,
he had the surgery finally yesterday,
the doctors thought they could get the problem with a less invasive method,
but when they got in, they saw more issues.
They had to do full blown surgery, going though the skull.
They are confident that they corrected all the issues
and he should be able to leave the hospital Saturday or Sunday.
I will be back for Monday, my wife will most likely be staying one more week to help with recovery.
