Used to go camping down there at Salter Path Family Campground with my family when I was a teenager. 1970-1977 or so. Lived in Raleigh. Then in Wilmington.

I believe it is called an anode. It is in the picture just above the prop. I was told and show by the marina that there is also a "U" shaped one at the very bottom of the engine...
