Re: Close call for MJ
The windshield I got from Mulv was from a 76 (I believe) and it was about 1/2 inch too wide for my '88. I put it on anyway. If you come across a newer one, we can swap. I am sure this will fit yours.

Re: Close call for MJ
Or if a 30 footer feels safer and you want a bracket and plenty of fishing room, here's one for you. You'd need to land a lot of "doormats" to pay for it though......

Re: HELP
Most owners run between a 150 and a 200. Performace vs. weight is the concern. I am running a 150 2-stroke Evinrude and top out at 40 MPH. A 200 will get you to 46 or so, but are the weight and...

Re: Close call for MJ
OK MJ, let me know. But do not despair. Mine sank and I still own it. It took a lot of work to get it back together. I do not think I mentioned that the new 2004 Ficht blew a powerhead 20 minutes...

MJ:
Say it ain't so. Rather than sell, we should start a V20 museum and induct it as the first.
As for parts, I'll trade you a pump for the center glass of your windshield.

Re: Close call for MJ
Wow MJ! Just read it. Glad you are both OK. I would not be surprised if the bracket displacement helped you in that terrible situation. It certainly helped having a full transom. Mine would have been...

Re: Gas Tank Replacement
What is the 4200 or silicone used for? You are sealing the gas floor panel? Mine had no sealant, just lots of screws.

Re: General comment on polishing gelcoat
Wow Flounder, you really cleared my head. I always thought my 88 looked a little gray. Where did you get the 1000-2000 grit sand paper. I got a 5" 8-hole hook and loop sander but no luck finding...

Re: Cleanup Time
I agree MJ, but having just spent about $13000 repairing this boat, I would like it to at least look like it never sunk. Plus, I have to take pics for the insurance and we all know shiny is better.

When you use compound with a buffer, do you have to apply with a foam pad on the buffer, wait for it to glaze dry and then remove and polish with a bonnet? Or can you apply and buff all at once with...

Re: Cleanup Time
Oh yeah, I forgot to ask about the non-skid on the bow. Can't really sand that. Also, any suggestions on finding a good detailer to do it all for me and how much I should expect to pay?
