Acetone works fine, I've used other more green solvents & they seem to work well to. The trick is to wipe is then paint quickly, if you leave it for a day, oil will migrate back out to the surface.

Me, I like the teak, so I just wipe it down & then varnish with Urethane or Epiphanes, no oil, that stuff...

Swapped the stator wires while I had them off I used my Ohm meter on them, one side was open. Swapped them anyway, and the problem changed sides.

So I check the stator resistance at the red/blue wires next to eliminate it, right?

If you keep your boat under cover don't sweat the rod holders, a turkey baster, really? If you plug them up it's no biggie to put in a drain line from the bottom of the holders...

Me too, steplift, and that's what I was about to do. although I understand the stator triggers the powerpacks, and could cause the same symptoms, so I'll check that first. I have no problem...

One thing I rarely see mentioned here is cupping a prop. A good prop shop can put a cup or extra twist in the blade. Cupped props bite better imo, but more importantly it's like an in between...

My cushions were destroyed in hurricane Katrina, had them in the house. Been looking for replacements (but I'm cheap) ever since.

Found these yesterday on craigslist, 20 minutes away! $80 bucks....
