Mines an '89 165 4 cyl which if I'm not mistaken is a later version on the same engine. Clymer manual lists full throttle as 4200 - 4600 rpm, but I agree with Airslot, engine seems "happiest" at 3200...

I have a 21 pitch on my I/O. But that does not mean it's right for you. Check the links page for info on proper prop sizing or search the old threads here. There's been plenty of conversation on this...

Got a '98 Durango. 5.2 V8. I like it alot. That should tow your boat with no problem. May yours be as trouble free as mine has been.
