I’ve used Starboard for a lot of projects, hell the deck of my Egg Harbor is built with it and it is tough stuff. I’d say 1” starboard would be damn near indestructible. I think it’d work great.

Perhaps the bolts are in the water jacket themselves. I don’t know much about these motors but know many Chevy motors have multiple boats that must have thread sealant or coolant will leak out....
