If you can get majority of the core out it'll be the best way to do it. It'll be solid as a rock and will never be able to rot again. I'm about to do my project V-20 with that method.

No. it's definitely bowed. I put a straight edge along the transom and it teeter-totters like a playground toy. After thinking about it I agree adding material would be better than shaving it down....
