Re: hoisting motor?

I went nuts and did it last night. Used the strap tecnique. It worked but I wish I had tried the eye bolt. I almost lost it but had some rope and straps around to pull it where I wanted. Anyway, I...

Re: hoisting motor?

WE'LL SEE HOW IT WORKS OUT. I BOUGHT A COUPLE EYE BOLTS AND DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL FIT YET. I ALSO GOT A HEAVY DUTY RATCHET STRAP THAT I MAY USE.

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HELP.

I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE THE CASE. I SAW THE HOLE WITH THREADS. WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THOSE EYE BOLTS?

Re: transom repair for 74

I got my friend's A frame and am going to take the motor off this weekend. I already cut into the transom some and it is unbelievable. What's left of the wood looks like baby crap. Alot of it is just...

Re: 140 Johnson question-trim unit

The first time I had it replaced was when I hit something after Isabel going 20kts. *Gave me a good jerk and the motor wouldn't come up. *The hydrolic arm was bent! *Cost me $200. *Now it is slow or...

140 Johnson question-trim unit

My trim unit is giving me problems AGAIN. I am thinking about taking it off. Does anyone know how hard it is to pull a 140 Johnson up by hand from inside the boat? I am 30 years old and pretty strong...

Re: transom repair for 74

After examining the bilge I think what I have found is that the stringers and everything else in there is GONE. That must be why the boat shakes so much in the chop. Oh well. Transom this year, rip...

Re: transom repair for 74

After looking at some of the pictures in the gallery (very informative) I'm not so sure my stringers are bad. The floor is weak near the stern, in the middle. I cut a port in there and the floor...

Re: transom repair for 74

The transom is painted already so I plan to just paint it rather than repair the gelcoat. I plan to reglass the outside transom skin back on before pouring the seacast.

I think I am going to rip...

transom repair for 74

Good morning.

I have a 1974 outboard model V20. The transom is weak, you can shake the motor and see it move, and you can see it move when underway too. There are some cracks around the overflow...
