I just picked up an 84 Cuddy with a bad 3.7....

I just picked up an 84 Cuddy with a bad 3.7. Thinking about putting in a warmed over V-8 5.0 or 5.7. Hoping for mid 50's.

Personally I hate the look of a merc V-6 with the spacer plate , so much in fact that I often swap out the midsection. 25" clean mids are easier to come by than 20" and the look especially with twins...

Mercury pictured here is a 96 with later one piece cowl, just sold it during Irene for $1900-. The Yamaha is an early 90's converting it to a tiller, and the Yamaha 60 is my old 2004.
