how is you fuel pump? i was having the same problem but at idle under load it would die, we did change out the points and that didnt seem to help we thought that due to the points that after running...

Have you checked for a vacuum leak around the carb or the intake manifold? At a higher RPM this would not effect the performace but it will for sure at lower RPM's. it is easy enough to check with...

well last trip did not go so well, we were having problem with the boat stalling under load. so we put a whole new coil, switched the points to electronic ignition and put a brand new rebuilt carb on...

u-joint bellows question
should there be oil in the upper bellow? i took the front hose clamp off to look at it and oil came out but it looked more like dirty engine oil not clean stearn drive oil.

to get it home i had to keep it in neutral and have my buddy manually run the throttle as i put it into gear once i did that it ran fine other than the carb being loaded with fuel and had to clear...
