Blew Reverse!! Well when I got the motor and hooked it up reverse did ot work, then CB and I adjusted the cables and it worked fine. Now I have been using it like crazy, when you drive and come to a stop (put in neutral) the motor stays in forward, to get it to disengage you shut down or just click into reverse for a second and back to neutral. Today all went fine as normal, and when I got back to dock I went to reverse to sow for the ramp and there was no R just like that all it does is click tic tic tic tic till you put back in N ?? Think its a cable adjustment?? or gears? CB might be able to come buy friday to help out?? and BS said he could get down on saturday. So I am grounded for the rest of this week! :cen::cen: |

No help, but things to think about Besides, you probably need to service those reels, all the fish ya'll been catching. Barring replacement of parts in the foot or improper installation, is it possible: The shift rod may be slightly out of time with the linkage and not be able to be adjusted out with the cables? I think that model unscrews. Where the shift cable clamps at the motor (adjustment location) is it tight in the holder or sloppy? The control box is worn, say the pin or bushing for the forward and reverse? The cable length is incorrect in the control box? Just stuff to think about. I did find on one occasion the setscrews for the cable at the end where you may cut it off, on one side the setscrew was all the way out and on the other side the other screw was tightened into the cable enough to bend it and hold for a while. The end result was irregular position of the shifter at any given time. Convinced the cable was simply worn and removing it, I found the problem. The cable could move about 1/4" beyond the intended adjustment, thus creating the same problem you have. I thought I would never get it pulled out to straighten it. Doubt you will find the same thing. By the way do you have the parts list for your winch? I can't locate mine and need the spring brake and a place to order it from. |

I have no idea?? BS is coming Satyrday and we going to try to figure it out?? I have a spare lower unit that we can swap if need be. My winch is a PowerwinchT2400 or POW P77365 but I don' have the stuff for it, I searched online and all I get is were to buy them but not the parts? So far I have not needed any, thank god! |

Thanks MJ. Apparently I was talking about the one for the Wellcraft. I did find the part at the place I bought the winch. There were no parts available or any locations to order them. The owner of the place opened a damaged box, swapped the pieces and said "thanks for shopping with us, this one will be returned", I gotta shop there more often!! |

Well I picked up a new water pump kit today, and disassembled th spare motor. I drained the lower unit and got a smelly dark color oil, the screw magnets had some small graphite like metal on them but not much. So I am pretty ready for the repair what ever it might be. |

Check your cable adjustments, and also the shift interrupt switch. If the shift interrupt switch isn't working, it won't come out of gear like you describe. Also be VERY certain of the shift rod adjustment. I don't have a book in front of me right now to tell you what it should be. |

Thanks Term!! You picked a great time to go on vacation!! What you don't carry books with you?? Just Kidding, Hope you and dad are having a great time!! |

BS came over and we got to work on the motor! Thanks BS Well the bad news is that the reverse is still not working! Good News is we have found the problem, we think? the part you connect the cable to that turns the shift rod is worn. It has a round rod with one flat side pressed in, the hole has worn letting you move that piece almost a inch before it does anything. The spare motor was not any better! So the thought is to see if we can have it tack welded till I find the name of the part and can order another?? Hopefully BS can find his friend tomorrow and get it welded, other wise we will get it done Monday. I want a new motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Glad you found the problem and its not in the lower unit. Them parts can run into some money quick! |

It shifts into all gears manually,. I was just looking it up on a site they get $75 for new. Its a Shift Lever AY I have a spare lower unit that I was going to use if need be, but when we drained the unit it was filled with saltwater! O well it was a spare after all. Hope we can get it tomorrow?? we shall see what happens. I want to try out MY New prop  |
