any idea where i can for an exact weight? nada lists the motors as weighing 395 lbs. want to make sure. nada seems kinda light.
thanks Brad |
Keep in mind the NADA is dry weight. No prop, oil, wires, etc, etc.

Brad - don't go to a 3.0L. They're good motors, but they drink fuel ... like 15-16 gph at 4000 rpm cruise.

398 is about right for a 2.5 L 20 inch, the 25 inch weighs a bit more, and the 3.0 l weighs abit more than the 2.5, I'll see if I have any of the older sales brochures in the ofice tomorow that might have an acacurate weight

stumbled on this 3.0 very close to my house .. real clean freshwater .. looks like new. even comes with hydraulic steering.
one cylinder is low on compression .. owner wants nothing to do with it, just bought a new motor. maybe i could get away with fixing one hole if the others are good. price is right ... not really what i want .. but if i could fix it reasonable, i could use the extra money for gas:) they burn that much??? i tried to do a search, but did not come up with much info. i love the 175 that BS has .. but those chrome bores scare me .. read about chrome peeling and much $$ to steel sleeve or get re chromed. i would like something i could rebuild more cost effectively if something bad happens. but it is not out of the picture yet. |
Them 3.0's are best suited for 23+ boats weighing in at 5K+ in weight as well. For a stocker I wouldn't let the chrome bores scare ya. It's made it almost 20 years without issue, I would expect it to stay the same for a few more to come. Aviation uses ALOT of chrome bore cylinders without issues.
