INCA Fuel tank
Does anyone know the part # for the plastic 40 gallon fuel tank? It looks like they make several 40 gal tanks and Ive seen a few threads where they have been installed but no ne posted the dims or part #. I may need to replace my tank and this looks like the cheapest option.

I don't know the model number, but I'm sure you can find it here.

I think you are talking about this tank that several on here have bought:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOAT-...spagenameZWD1V INCA does not sell retail but Great lakes Skipper has a number of these on Ebay. Looks like they are down to 7 but I think they started with 20. |
That one looks just like the one I got, but mine came from Flounder Pounder.

I bought an INCA tank off Ebay. I don't know what year your V is but the INCA tank didnt fit width wise in my 79 V-20. I had to cut the floor about a 1 inch to get it to fit.

I have a 78 and the opening is something like 26 in. No way its fitting without some major hacking. It also looks like its going to be a PITA to get out since nearly 1/3 is under the floor. It will have to come forward and then up. There is a local company that will build me one for $500-$600.

My neighbor and fellow site member had to cut his floor to get his tank out. Pretty bad design flaw for those years that this is the case. The tank has a hatch you can open and see but you can't get it out. :(
He could tell you what tank he put in and what year his V is.....Carl? |
I'm still going back and forth as to if the tank is actually leaking or not. The boat is tilted back and the bilge is bone dry. I did smell some gas fumes when I removed the livewells but I also did spill some when draining the tank. I cleaned it up with bilge cleaner to remove the smell but its still there. If i leave the livewells out there is no smell. I may put some more bilge cleaner in and run it without the livewells in just to see if that removes the smell. There are no gas fumes when I open the front access panel so I just dont know what to make of it. I guess I always fear the worst.

Yeah it is a PITA to get the tank out on a '78. I cut the deck up aft of the removable access cover. I replaced my tank with a 52 gal tank from overtons. It took some glass work in the bilge area, but it was worth the 6 gallon increase in capacity.
