Welcome Jason, what ya got? Is it an I/O or outboard? I did my transom from the inside with marine grade plywood. Mine is an I/O.

transom help

its a v20 with a johnson 175 outboard im tring to figure out if i do the nidabond does all the wood need removed about 3in around the sides its al good woodand it s not coming out to good

It is best to get ALL the wood out for any of the transom repairs. It will only be as strong as it's weakest link when your done. And the pourables don't bond to wood very well.

well here we go!!!

Brother, I hate to say it but the last thing I would have done is go in through the hull. Why did you choose that method in lieu of taking out a small section of inner liner? Just curious.

Once i got into it i noticed that the inner skin was shot(im prety sure who ever had it before did some patch work inside)I was tring to get the wood of without damaging the iner skin but it was just to soft and i couldnt see sticking new wood to somthing that wouldnt hold i was going to reinforce it from the inside also ill post more pics as i go (hopefully the o/b doesnt fall off!!

You may at this point consider removing the part of the top cap at the transom area this will allow you to "drop" in the new transom, see previous post on this site for pictures. At this point you just need to do it right way. As for securing the new transom don't hesitate to bolt two or more brackets to the stringers this will aid in overall support. Just re-do the transom with ply and glass it all together. This will allow you to really secure it to the boat. The Arjay and seacast was meant for you to pour into the previous skin, since yours is all gone just rebuild it using ply...
