It's not just "W", I read an article in PM magazine about our oil reserves,
ther is more than we really know what to do with, tree huggers just
won't let us get it, they also won't let us build new refineries.

I also read an article were the oil minister of Venezuela just made a statement that
a barrel of oil will not be sold below $90 and it is the fault of the U.S. economy:

It has nothing to do with Bush, and everything to do with the US's unwillingness to become energy self-sufficient. We won't allow new refineries to be built. We aren't willing to tap into our own oil deposits in the ANWR and off our coastlines. We waste fuel.

$3.70+ for gas and $4.25+ for diesel in south Fla. Its going to be like $180 bucks to fill the boat now.

3 years ago when we were in Belize it was $5.50 a gallon there.
In Europe it was about the same per litre as what ours was per gallon.
We are just catching up with the rest of the world, we are the biggest consumers and the prices were lowest to us (U.S.) because of that.
Only thing I can afford to do is NOT spend money on "newer" internal combustion devices and keep useing the old crap I have (or find for next to nothing). This only offsets the monthly payments to get low fuel consumption as opposed to high prices at the pump.

The reason for this is WWII. The government realised the need to be self sufficient during a global crisis.
I don't like buying foreign oil or having ours preserved for something that might never happen, but you never know.

Lumber, how much you gonna charge to make a couple of 16' oars?

I think I will end up on a sailboat, gas prices are getting beyond the regular salary guys like me. Power boat prices are under water now, it is very easy to buy, but very hard to sell any power boat around here, but still, we had around 300-400 boats in the area this Sunday. Boaters always find a way to afford a great boating day.
By the way, gas here is around 92 cents per liter today.
