Downrigger Install Gspot
Finally got around to installing my new Cannon EasiTroll's
The gunwales were too narrow for a install of the baseplates, I did not like the normal method of dealing with that. Which would be a pedestal mount. Not strong enough in my opinion and would not position them for easy use. So to the workshop we go, picked up some marine aluminum plate, nice and thick, cut to shape, holes marked and drilled http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0604.jpg positioned and bolted to pre-selected and marked spots with 1/4x20 stainless bolts and lock nuts and washers, one inch washers under the gunnels to spread the load http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0606.jpg Another view http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0605.jpg Finished mounting, nice units http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0607.jpg Did full service, plugs oil filters lower units water sep/filters on the Yammi 60 four stroke and the venerable Suzy 9.9 two smoker. A little ring free in the tank and all is set for tommorow going for browns rainbows and lakers in Round Valley Reservoir, hopefully the weather accomodates http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...z/IMGP0608.jpg OOP's how did this get in here http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...chultz/066.jpg You all take care and comb your hair Willy |
Nice Job There Mr. Bill!!!!
How many cases of that "deep drilling " lube have ya gone thru?? |
I prefer to get them well lubed before I probe my friend. Thanks
Oh almost forgot used a zinc-chromate based finish on the aluminum to keep the plates from pitting when I hit the salt with the G Spot. |
Willy:
Nice job there! Just one question. I see that the outriggers and the motors on your new rig aren't camo? Won't the fish see you sneaking up on them? :hi: Kamikaze |
Great job !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys, I mounted them so that I can work them from the back seat while using the tiller with the 9.9 which is what is required at the lake.
And Kami been thinking about that, I will tell you with the water clarity at the reservoir ( you can see the bottom clearly to about 40 feet ) the camo is actually pretty good. I have had big browns swim right below me and not pay me any mind, I guess cause there is no reflective or refractive light off the boat. but the engines are both grey so I am not worrying about it. Besides with my angry white man face I am the most reflective thing out there. |
Looks like I will be fishing in some strong winds today so wish me luck

well the sun is up for a change but the trees are bent over with winds, going to wait it out till this afternoon and take my son when he comes home from school, hopefully they will lie down by then:nut:

Nice riggers Willy. And as usual, installed the RIGHT way. Looks to be a great setup. I'd like to have a pair of those for the Blue Runner for the stripas and deep trolling the king macks.
