BUNCH of starboard work....
About a week ago my dad called me to come give him some pointers on some work he had to do to his boss's boat. He wanted alot of teak replaced with starboard. The guy that the boat belongs to has been a family friend for a long time and also owns the lake I fish at by the house.
Anyways, I went by and got a pretty big list of mostly 3/4" and 1" starboard together. After we were done I took a quick glance at the numbers and it was about $1200 total worth of white gold. So yesterday I stopped back by to check his progress and its coming along nicely. My dad has done all the work with only a little of my guidance. He hasnt worked starboard before but as someone I consider a MASTER wood worker I never thought it would be a problem. Sorry for the phone pics...Ill try and get some better ones later. When I stopped by he told me "man this starboard is FUN to work with " I said hello pot...Im kettle. LOL Cabinet axcess for front of console..this is 3/4" with a lip that slips around the corner into the console. Very stout. He is also making new tracks for the plexi out of 1" starbord. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...1b4092bcec.jpg Foot rests on console...3/4" beveled off on the front and then cut grip grooves in them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...21ce9bae46.jpg These gunwhales were all teak with the bolster bolted to that. Now they are 1" on the top and sides that the pad is bolted back to. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...289f49af5c.jpg Heres the boat. Its a 26' with the small cuddy up front....new Etecs last year. Very nice rig. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...85100cc14d.jpg He still has the cuddy cabin door and casing to build and a few other lil goodies. Ill update with some better pics later. |
tell your dad....VERY NICE WORK:clap:
|
:drool: You can haul it down here to FLORIDA and I'll take it off his hands for the cost of the starboard. I know them ETECS must pain him to have on the back.
Nice lookin rig, and quality craftsmanship on the starboard. I couldn't make a straight cut with a table saw. |
Very nice, your Pops does clean work, very nice indeed:clap:

:sun:wood is good but vinyl is final:sun:
Great pics stink ,,,,,, love them e-tecs |
Nice work!!! He might just have passed me as the King Starboard guy!
I am getting ready to start starboarding the Sea Ox! I am also going to be doing the door on the anchor locker, two foot stands and covering the rear area with a new built in tackle area like CB and I made on the V. Going to me sniffing plastic soon!! |
Well here are the doors for the cuddy cabin. The frame is built out of 1" as well as the two side inlays and the louvers are 1/4". Each one is individually morticed in. They will be screwed from the outside before hinge installation to hold it all together.
Definitely the best starboard work Ive ever seen. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...arboard003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...arboard001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...arboard002.jpg I told him about the need for these on here and he is thinking about building them to sell. It just depends on what he can build them for versus the interest. What do yall think? Any takers? |
Me over here!! :hi:
Be a different size then a V20 but I was thinking the other day about them for the new Sea Ox, I will be rid of all the wood soon and was thinking on the doors, nothing wrong with them, I just hate wood for the work and these need sanding and finishing. Let me know! Thanks! They don't get better then that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AA+ |
Bet he could make a very nice tackle center too.:sly:

Stink, you need to make him up a Gallery to display the stuff he has made and is making. |
