The big question is, What will you be using it for? If for towing a V and general commuting, I would say NO. Unfortunately the price difference between diesel and gas has now taken away the milage advantage that diesel had over gas for years. If your looking at a bigger boat, and using the truck for towing and such and not commuting. Then I say, What are you waiting for? Don't let the naysayers fool you either. The DURAMAX has proven itself time and time again as a solid engine, and with a little work can be downright QUICK!
The big question is your usage as our current government is going to keep raisng the price of fuel, but diesel seems to be holding higher. And is currently being taxed much higher as well. And if your looking for some reading material, try here. http://dieselplace.com/forum/index.php |
It costs more to maintain a diesel...oil change, brakes and most other parts. Then, it costs more to maintain a 3/4 ton or 1ton also. My boss had to pay quite a bit more for a wheel bearing ($750 for his ford 250 vs. $270 and some change for my buddy's chevy 1/2 ton). That's been about five years so I'm not exact. I personally would have bought a diesel instead of my current truck, but I'm poor.

Fire safety state required kinda stuff. business can't exist in our state without it. Pay to charge rates make the boss rich and employees poor.

I agree with Therm!! CB and I was just talking about this as I am thinking of trading my truck next year?? I will stay with gas!
But I am thinking of getting a small Toyota or something good on gas for coumting to work, The the truck be good for another 5 years if just for towing and bad weather. |
