Boot Stripe/graphics Removal Looking for suggestions as to how to best remove striping and chewed up graphics from from 92 V20. Has any one done this? I know that the gel coat underneath is going to shine like the sun compared to the rest of the hull- have never buffed out the hull before but am game to try if this is something a rookie can do. Any advice here would be appreciated- thanks guys. This forum is awesome!!!! |

Heat Gun come right off!! Just make sure you don't burn the boat, move around a lot don't leave in one spot long!! Once you get started you will be done in no time! |

the sign guys aaround here use ovencleaner, spray it on, wait for the vynil to krinkle, then scrape it off with a platic squegee. Seen them do it time and time agian without any harm to the gel. Just go slow, work on small places at a time. and once you've got it clean, spray it off with water before teh oven cleaner drys out |

I took off the bootstripe w/ a hair drier....it came off w/ ease. Lightly compounded were stripe used to be and it looks almost as if it was never there. |

i removed the stripes and wellcraft stickers on my 1986 CC. I tried a heat gun and a razor..extremely stubborn, only little peices would come off at a times. i went to an automotive paint supplier who sold me a rubber? wheel you attach to a drill. this easily peeled off all striping. It heats up as you apply a little pressure and wipes the stickers away. i recall it costs $30. |

Thanks OK- thanks guys. One I get this puppy unwrapped and the weather heats up by 30 degrees will get at it. Launch date is only 2 months away. |

stripe removal I've taken all but the Wellcraft sticker off mine. Brake cleaner works great. It evaporates really fast, so you have to work in small areas at a time, but it doesn't hurt the gel coat, and the stickers can be scrapped off with a razor blade or plastic putty knife. The razor blade helps get more of the sticky stuff faster. You can look a t my pics and see that it really didn't leave too bad-a-streaks on the boat from the old stickers. |
