Fishing LI sound
Considering keeping my boat in the LI sound, as it is closer than Jersey Shore and a heck of alot cheaper. We are looking at Rye NY to keep the boat. Anyone here fish the sound and what's you opinion of it??

Hey regidog,
There are a few of here that fish LI sound. It's just the other end of the sound. I am near Mystic CT - close to Watch Hill RI - the eastern sound, where you are in the Western sound. Its all good fishing. If you are thinking of keeping your boat in Rye, where are you living - how far will you be from the boat and slip? Regards Carl |
I'm in northern NJ, bergen County, its about 35 to 40 minutes to Rye, also considered City Island but heard there is a tremendous amount of traffic. Slips are $85 to $120 a foot with showers and utilities at the dock. Boat is a 24 footer. Know of any good places??

I grew up in Bergen county - New Milford -
I also moved to eastern CT - plenty of places here. You are in a tough spot 1-2 hour drive to good water and big $$$$$$$ area Good luck Carl |
I also fish LI Sound, usually launch in Niantic. Great fishing grounds indeed.
Carl, by any chance do you own "Carl" the Downeaster lobster boat that fishes the Race area? |
Hey Bassarama,
That is not my boat. Mine is a '78 wellcraft cuddy named 'PANARU' . Do you tow from New Milford CT to Niantic? Carl |

Finally found a place $2600 including winter storage. Alittle further than I wanted but at a $1000 savings against the next best place.

So regidog,
where did you end up? Carl |
Haven't committed but City Island. Its at least 35 minutes from home depending on traffic over the GW bridge. I hate you guys who walk to the end of your street and jump in the boat. I need to move!
