outboard bracket conversion Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this website. I first wanna say major props to whom ever set this site up. I own an '89 V20 cuddy with a single outboard. I have been fishing this boat for about 6 yrs. now and I blew the motor. I am looking at this as an opportunity to make some major modifications to the set up and layout of the boat. The first thing that I am planning to do is close-in the transom and put a bracket on the boat. Does anyone have any pictures of this type of work? I have seen many I/O's done but have'nt seen any boats set up for a transom mounted outboard changed over to a bracket. I am going to build the back up a bit to add a built in live bait tank in the back. Any comments or pics would be greatly appreciated. This site is the best. Thanks:chug: |

Welcome to the site. Someone did that exact modification within the last year. I can't remember who, but someone will. |

Hey Bigshrimpin, it's good to see another guy from my area on this board. I live in Modesto. I'm very impressed with your work. That is a great looking bracket. I was under the impression that most brackets were made out of aluminum or stainless. I am going up to the sportmans expo this weekend in Sac. to get some ideas and look at all the other goodies. Do you have any conerns about the strength of the bracket? I am well versed in wood work, (carpenter) and also have done my share of autobody work so a prodject like this would be feasable. Thanks for the photos, and once again, impressive work! |

Hi overboard. Seems we're both in the same boat, so to speak. I have an 87 Fishman 20 and I'm in the process of doing the same bracket conversion. I've taken the old transom out and I'm beginning the rebuild in a couple of weeks. If you'd like to compare notes, I'd be glad to. If it helps, there are a lot of picutres of the same type of conversion in the project boats section of classicmako.com. |
