New scuppers for me at least.
 

Since this boat has a full transom, and the previous owner put on a bracket, and took out the old scuppers. I'm looking for suggestions on the proper placement of the scuppers. Seems like the bracket gets pretty wet when I'm trolling. So beneath it could mean water on the deck.

do You have a pic of what the prior owner did to the scuppers?

My 85 was a sea drive converted to bracket and the scuppers drain out tubes to the sides of the boat. I think this was the stock position with the sea drive? I dont understand what or why your prior owner did to the scuppers??? ???

Hey guys. I still have my Sea Drive (and Vic your story is making me nervous) and the scuppers drain directly into the bilge, not out of the boat. The Sea Drive is not set up as a self bailing deck. This is the original setup. So when the deck fills with water from rain or washing, the water runs into the scuppers onto the shelves where the batteries and oil tank are located and then though a cutout on the lip of each shelf into the bilge. There are no holes in the hull to make the deck self bailing, everything goes into the bilge. Also, I am now anxious to check when I take the shrink wrap off in a couple more weeks, to confirm that my mid-cockpit fish box drains directly into the bilge and is freely passing through cutouts in the bulkheads to the stern where it is pumped out with the bilge pump and that my baitwell (in the deck aft of the fish box), when not pumped out with its own pump through a thru hull fitting on the starboard side, drains the same way as my fish box. My decks are SOLID (I'm getting defensive).

Vic...don't know where those scuppers gonna wind up, but I'd rule out under the bracket... ;)I like Fillet's location :D

Fillet, is there a 90 degree turn in the hose running from your bulkhead scupper to the through hull fitting? I'm just wondering how that keeps from getting clogged? I was thinking about running a hose from my bulkhead scuppers over the battery and oil tank shelves directly into the bilge, but didn't do it because I didn't want to create more problems from clogs.

There is a bend in the hose, but it is gradual and not a hard 90 degree. *You can see how far back the thru hull fittings are on the boat. When looking inside the transom at the hose, it runs aft to almost the corner of the hull. *

CT My boat is also not self baling!!
All goes to the bilge and that was the demise of the I/O!!
All that water splashing all over the motor just cause all kinds of problems all the time!!
And my 2 fish boxes drain to the bilge also!! I just don't pull the plug in them till I get to the ramp, and then I just let it run straight out the back.

I am to scared to look at my stringers and stuff!! :o So long as the floor holds me up I aint looking eaither!! ::)

Here is a pic inside the transom. The hose makes a very gradual 90 degree bend.
