Seaboard ...... and paint, epoxy, tape ???

All,
My '88 V20 came with no door for the large live-well / storage area in the floor. I have to make one - and figure I will use the Seaboard stuff. But, I also plan on re-surfacing the floor as well. So my question is - what can I do to the Seaboard ... if I want to paint it to match the paint I put on the floor ? Will it take paint ? Epoxy resin ? Durabak floor stuff ? What if I want to carpet the floor - would I be able to adhere carpet to the Seaboard ?
Thanks in advance for any help !

Macojoe made floor hatch covers out of starboard. *He also painted his floor but not covers. *I'm sure he'll post here and give you his hands on knowledge. *Look at his gallery's pictures he did a really nice job! *Good luck * Bill Mc ;D

Mac, MJ posted pics along the way and on completion of tha t project...shouldn't be too hard to find...really good work...

Brian, you can use 3/4'' Starboard (Seaboard) for a new hatch-cover on that live-well...if it were me, I'd hinge it to use the space for storage...choose a color that will match or go with your floor color, cause I don't think there's a paint that'll stick to it, nor a glue that'll hold carpet to it...replaced my old teak hatch-lids w/it years ago...GREAT stuff ;)...

You can not paint the starboard!! Nothing will stick to it!!

It comes in a few colors and you should look for the color you need.
I am not sure if you can get Seaboard in your area?? But if you can it comes in a lpt more colors then Starboard and is 1/2 the price!

I painted my deck with light gray Duraback and I made the covers from white 3/4 Seaboard. The reason for this is that I bought a full sheet of 3/4 white for the front Bulkheads and I used the left over for the covers.
Worked out great and they are not slippery at all !

This is after:

you will notice that all the wood in the rear and side tank covers are all now 1/4 Starboard also!! Makes great for the clean up at the end of the day!!
