Boat wiring diagram?
Hey guys,
I seem to remember someone posting a "general" boat wiring diagram on this sight awhile back. I going to be rewiring my boat here in the near future and I figured it would help. Does anyone have one? I am going to install a new tach and maybe a few other new gauges. I have a 2 pos. switch to toggle between fuel tanks to one gauge and a 2 pos switch for anchor/nav lights. I was thinking of going to a nice D.C. switch panel to clean up the job a little bit, maybe a 5 or 6 switch panel. 1. Nav lights 2. Anchor light 3. Bildge pump 4. Future cockpit lighting 5-6. spares for future use I'm not sure of the best way to go about wiring. My budget is tight, so I need to make it right but keep it economical. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Scott |

Hey 007, I think I have the original owners manual for the V20 ( 1983) somewhere, If I can lay my hands on it I'll scan the wiring diagram and send you a copy

Re: Boat wiring diagram?
i always go buy a 12/3 or 14/3 100ft drop cord and cut it for all my wiring. that way you have an extra wire at all accessories. it's plenty heavy enough wire and it's oil and gas safe. just count how many you need to the back and write on the wires with a sharpie marker what they are and pull all at once then run your front wiring. One 100 ft cord will rewire your whole boat and they are cheaper than reg wire. just crimp on the ends and go.

Re: Boat wiring diagram?
Just for kicks, thats how I wire boat trailers. I use the third wire for ground so that everything is grounded up front.

I just add wires one at a time and they all work!! Looks like a bowl of pasta, and i will never know what goes to what :o But it works!!
You should see the grounding block!! Its a 4" bolt that I just keep adding to!! ::) |
