Fiberglass repair ?

Hey guys, got a few questions about fiberglass repairs. How do I repair the deck when it is separating from the marine plywood? Gelocoat is in decent shape but when you step on it it has very little support. Can you drill holes through the plywood and inject resin or an adhesive to recreate the bond? i am at a lose.

Strange that you would bring this up. I been sanding and grinding my deck down to reprime and apply a non-skid "Tuff Coat paint" and have two slightly weak area on my deck. I weigh 200 pounds and it flexs just enough to annoy me. The right way is to cut the area out and install new wood and glass the peice back in. But there is a stuff out there where you can inject a resin into the rotted wood and its suposed to make the wood rock solid. Its a bit pricey though at West Marine. I mght pick some up in the morning and see what it does.

Well that will work to a point and I think it is better suited for stringers and solid wood.

For plywood, I don't think your going to get what you looking for??
Plywood is layers that have rotted. The rot fixer is never going to reglue it all toghter.
Then you still have to find some kind of glue that will glue the deck back to the fixed rotted wood. There isn't much that will glue wet wood, so your going to have to cut up the syuff thats peeling and fold back to get that area to dry before you start glueing

IMO, cut it out and fix it the right way. The money you waste on the quick fix will just be wasted.

Agreed MJ that won't fix Plywood only fix is to do it right and cut out the bad area and replace the rotten wood.

from what I have been told you can use that kind of stuff succesfully only if you have found a way to completely dry out the rotted wood first, or at least dried it to the point in which it will suck it in and be completely absorbed
