Oh Well
 

Well guys, I had to do what I had to do. I spent maybe two weeks it felt like sanding off all that TOP SECRET paint off the hull. Was hoping that it would have worked. Maybe using a automotive primer over the Interlux primer. Buying a generator and spayer and then only finding out that it still wont bound...ah...couldnt take the chance, nor have the money or time. So this is what I did. Enjoy the pics. She will look better when I get a new boot stripe on. The boat currently has two sets over top of each other. So I hope a heat gun works to get the olds one off.
Any tricks of teh trade of putting on new ones ??
MULV...any tricks when you pulled your boot stripe off ??
Also decided against those sink drains as deck drains. One of you guys posted a site on a company that sells/makes deck drains. they only sell to boat companys, but I called and they hooked me up with two deck drains with the ball valve. Nice people to deal with.

Hull again sanded all back down again.

Hull reprimed for the 3rd TIME !! at 80.00 bucks a gallon for Interlux Barrier coat. I'm so good at priming and sanding, I should do it as a side job !!

Interlux NON Ablative paint. Hard bottom paint at 50 bucks a gallon compared to VIVID bottom paint at a cost of $167.00 a gallon. Will take a few more pics when she's home and the tape is pulled and new boot stripe is on.

Mike, I like bare bottoms better but she is still a sweet ride wearing the bottom paint. As far as removing the boot stripe, A hairdryer and a razor blade is all you need. I avoided a heat gun because I was afraid it may damage the hull. The truth is the hairdryer gets hot enough to melt the vinyl so I think a heat gun is overkill. I heated up the stripe about a foot at a time and started to peel it up in the corner with the razor blade. Once you get it started its pretty easy to peel off, just keep the hairdryer in front of the area you are working on and it will heat it up as you pull it off. Just take your time and pull the stripe off slow and becareful not to gouge your hull with the razor blade, its suprisingly easy to gouge with the blade. After I got the stripe off I used some acetone to remove the adhesive residue. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks Mulv. I'll be working on that this weekend.
Noticed you didnt put one back on. I may do the same. Not sure just yet. Will see how it looks when all the glue is off.

Mulv. She's come a long way since the last two three owners. She's tried me a few times, stressed over the paint not working and all. Will be nice to get her home and get her wet.
Also in the once picture where the boat is all resanded again. I decided to patch in a drain on the side. It was a drain that ran out under the deck. It was hooked up to my box seat. Holes in boats freak me out. I simply knotched out the bottom of the box seat and the hose will stick out about a half inch and drain along the deck along the gunnels.
