I waiting for info on this also, the directions on my transducer say that if it is completely embedded in epoxy to the hull bottom it will work.

Are you talking about using a transom mount transducer and using it as a shoot through. Iv'e heard of this working. I think they use silicone, and make sure there are no air bubbles in it underthe ducer. Check out thehultruth.com.

Done it. It's very easy. Just make sure of placement for a good signal and no air bubbles between hull and transduscer. Take the boat out with a friend and have them try different locations as you operate the boat for the best signal. Good luck.

there's an epoxy you use to hold them on the bottom and yes you must have the transducer epoxyed in with no voids or air pockets between the hull and the transducer. I have them in my Sea Ray and they all work great. Your hull must be glass only (No Wood) an all have a certain thickness they will work thru read your box to be sure it will shoot thru the hull you may need to grind the hull to get it thin enough to work. good luck

I've got an Airmar P-79 ?I think thats the model? that is in the stern of mine. IT's the one with the casing that you silicone down and fill w/ mineral oil. To make a long story short, I'm still using the transom mount 'ducer. I never got as good a reading w/ the shoot through. I may play with it again this year.

I have a lowrance transom mount transducer . My old one kept getting broken by the fork lifts . I want to glue this one in and did not know if there was a spot that had been successful in which to mount it .

I sent an email to Wellcraft and ask if they could assist with the best location . Tom Dystra returns with :

"6 to 8 inches off the keel and 12 inches forward of the transom "
I'm going to give that a shot this weekend .
