Battery Switch I have two batteries connected to a switch that has A, B, ALL and OFF positions. How do you set the switch under normal conditions? Do you alternate between A & B everytime you use the boat to keep the use/charge consistent between the batteries or do you run it on the ALL setting? Thanks. |

Re: Battery Switch Use A or B alternately and both ONLY in a pinch. Airslot |

Re: Battery Switch I run the first half of my trip on "1" then switch to "2" for the rest of the day. Don't run on both because you could end up with 2 dead batteries. I'd like to hook up an Isolator which allows you to keep the switch on "1" but WILL charge both batteries. See link. http://www.jerrylabella.com/ship_shape2.htm |

Re: Battery Switch When running in the "ALL" position, the cummulative condition of your batteries combined is only as good as your weakest battery. That is to say; when connected in parallel, a weak battery will drain a stronger battery. Only use "ALL" in a pinch as Airslot stated to get yourself out of trouble. Or, ideally, do as TinMan suggests and get an isolator. |

Re: Battery Switch On this subject, does anyone know if it's OK to switch batterys while engine is running? ??? I've seen instructions that say you can fry the diodes or something but it seems to be applying to a big engine with a conventional alternator, not the rectifyer in my BlackMax 200. Trollercoaster |

Re: Battery Switch You can switch to 1, 2, or both while running. DO NOT GO PAST OFF while running. Airslot |

Re: Battery Switch So "off" is what frys my rectifyer? Trollercoaster :-/ |

Re: Battery Switch If you go to off while engine is running, yes, bad for rectifier. :o Airslot |

Re: Battery Switch It will also tighten you shpinkter :o ...which as bad for the rectumfier... ::)... |
