Bondo
Is it ok to use Bondo on the console of a boat? Will it last?
|
Re: Bondo
I'd go with Marine-Tex myself.
|
Re: Bondo
Is it similar application wise? haven't played with it yet but am ramping up to start my overhaul.
|
Re: Bondo
Yeah, it's pretty simple application. Very similar to Bondo, but better suited for the application.
|
Re: Bondo
Yeah Bondo is ok as long as you glass over it or you can mix up some resin and mix up bondo then mix them together and that is fine. Marine Tex will cause paint blisters later.

Re: Bondo
I like a product called "quickfair" . . . but you can mix your own fairing paste with cabosil, microballons, and gelcoat.

Re: Bondo
I've used West System two part epoxy with talcum power with good results.

Re: Bondo
Im with Skools, I have used Bondo on boat repairs and restoration for years...
Not sayin MTex or Epoxy wouldnt be better suited for the app, its just that Im a poor white trash southern boy and we ALWAYS have Bondo. :D |
Re: Bondo
i've used it all and bondo is easier to work and faster then just mix some resin and brush a coat over the bondo and sand smooth and you're good to go Stink I like the new Pic that's a true southern girl there. Git-R-Done

Re: Bondo
I decided I am using bondo and coating with epoxy like skools mentioned. I used bondo on the skeg of my Sutphen and it lasted for years until I hit something. Started ripping the V20 appart and sanding down the gelcoat problems on the console. i'll post some pics when theres something to show.
