New stator
 

Put the new stator in and got spark to all 6 cyl. Wahoo! Went to local lake to try it out. Motor wouldnt rev out. I already had some seafoam in gas tank. I decided to fill fuel filter with seafoam. I started to slowly give her gas and she started to die. I choked it for awhile while giving it gas. All of a sudden she cleared her throat and took off. I ran it for about a hour and she just kept running better and better.

Your a northern boater for sure. Surprised you dont have snow and ice on that lake yet. Been lucky I guess.

What exactly does a Stator do?? I thought it was the alternator ??

I am going to try my motor tomorrow with the new power pack, I thought that was what supplied spark?

Mine sends power to the two switchboxes(powerpacks). One side of stator wasnt sending juice to one of the switchboxes. I had lost spark on one bank of motor. I think there are high speed and low speed windings in the stator too, as well as charging windings.

Makes sense!! So if the power packs no work I should look at my stator.

Nice boat 8barrel! I have a 76 with basically the same setup, looks very similar. You'll have a blast, it's been a great boat for us.

I grew up boating on Candlewood lake in northwestern CT, ever been out there? Great place. Also did some boating on the sound off of Fairfield.

Never been to Candlewood. It looks huge on the map tho! I usually fish out of Stonington or Niantic. I trailer it down. I like to have the boat at my house. I am always changing and customizing stuff on my boats.

Its been unseasonably warm up here. Its great!
