Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
when i drained mine i removed it. thier was another thread on this bout a month or so ago. some of the guys said they just pumped the ball to get a siphon going. i dont believe you can get it all that way. was real ez on mine. i just drank coffe and smoked cigarettes while my nephew and his bud busted thier rumps. it only took em about 20 minutes or so, start to finish. i then dumped it and then filled it about quarter full with water and sucked it out with shop vac. did that a couple times to get ALL the debri. put in water to float debris and keep it from blowing up.

Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
I bought an inexpensive electric fuel pump from the auto parts store, I put two long leads on it with a toggle switch on the positive side and some alligator clips to connect to a battery AWAY from the fuel lines. Run a piece of fuel line from the discharge side into a gas can. I connected the input side of the pump to the line coming fron the fuel tank and pumped it dry.

Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
I had to do it about a month ago (previous thread mentioned) I just pump the ball got the flo going, and killed all the weeds in my drive way ;D i assume i didn't get 100% out, but after the syphon stoped a pump it until it was just spitting. Filled up and she ran perfect.

Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
Something about electric pumps and smoking cigarettes while pumping out a 60 gallon fuel tank, Hmmmm? :o
When I drained mine I took the fuel sender out and stuck a fuel hose down the hole. I stuck a primer bulb on the other end to get the siphon going and filled up every gas can I had and both cars! |
Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
I just removed the line from the pump ball and added another which I ran out into a portable tank. I gave it a few pumps to get it going then just let it go. This is a little slow but worked fine as I did oher things as the tank drained. The only effort was switching tanks as they filled.

Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
I use a ball pump and couple of lenghts of scrap fuel line to siphon it out into portable tanks.

Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
Easiest way is to tell someone who needs it that the gas is FREE, just come get it ;) ...when I went from 2S to 4S, already had oil mixed w/ about 70 gals gas...told some guys who run the rivers around here in jon-boats to come get it and B4 I knew it, it was GONE ;) ...
...and THEY brought the BEER ;D ... |
Re: what is the easiest way to drain the gas
WHEN HURRICANE WILMA, I DID THE SAME AS FRANCO, BEING AN I/O I USED THE BOAT FUEL FOR THE GENERATOR, I USED AN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP THAT I HAD BRAND NEW, NEVER INSTALLED, AND MADE A POWER CORD BUT I USED BRASS EYELET TERMINALS TO PREVENT SPARKS, REMOVE THE GAS FITTING FROM ENGINE, INSTALLED IT IN THE PUMP AND STARTED PUMPING GAS FOR ME AND MY NEIGBOUR.
