Hatch repair question

I read the how-to on hatch repair. My question is, what kind of wood do we need to use? Looks like marine grade plywood would be sufficient, but where do you pickup some of that? Have they got that kind of stuff at Lowes? Any advice is appreciated (as long as it isn't a smart aleck comment, those are cherished).

Up here in Detroit Lowes does not carry marine grade plywood. I had to go to a lumber specialty store to puchase a sheet of expensive marine grade but worth it. Billy Mac ;D

Frayed, I know yer not sposed to use treated...and marine-grade really shouldn't be necessay cause all wood will be ENCAPSULATED once the job's done...

Frayed, where ya at. 'Round here Lowes carries a decent A/C X with very few voids. Makes a good wood for boat work. I know that a few of the local boat repair guys really like it.
I wanna say it about 48 a sheet for 3/4...

Re: Hatch repair question

It's the cover over the in floor fuel tank. I googled marine grade plywood, and like you said Airslot, a good grade of exterior is just as good. I plan on doing the fix just like in the how to forum, with the exception of gel coat.

BTW- Air, I'm in New Bern, NC. All we have for the big box hardware stores is Lowes. I'll have to go check it out. Thanks for the info!
