Wax and grease remover
Experts,
It will soon be time to start sanding the entire V20 for a new paint job. A site search didn't turn up anything. What do you recommend using to remove wax, mold release and/or grease which may be on the fiberglass. Thanks, Warner |

Re: Wax and grease remover
I prefer MEK over acetone for wiping down prior to sanding because it doesn't evaporate as quickly. It gives you a little more time to wipe down.

Re: Wax and grease remover
go get the application guide for AwlGrip, they usually give them away for free at West Marine if you ask for it, if not you can download it off their website. It will answer every question about painting anything that has anything ever to do with or mounted on, or just sitting near a boat, Mark the pages that have to deal with the corrct application for you, it can get a little confusing and its easy to turn to the wrong page when your ordering materials(speaking from experiance)

Re: Wax and grease remover
I heard non liquid dishwashing soap/detergent does a good job removing wax. Never tried it . . . just heard it from a few people. Might be worth looking into . . .
