Hatch cover repair.

The cover for the fishbox/livewell between the front seats needs a little repair.

The left front corner gives just a little when I step on it. *It doesn't seem to be rotten, just got steped on too hard at some time. *

I was thinking that I might take some resin and stick a piece of wood right in the corner to reinforce it, but there is not much room to work.

What do you suggest?

I would drill a couple of test holes with a small drill to check for rotted wood. It looks like the plywood core may have delaminated. Go take a look at rotdoctor.com for further instructions.

Grind back the cracked material and lay a few layers of glass in there, she'll be good as new.

Like Air said, grind back and use some West System and cloth. She will be fine.

Everybody should have a 4.5" grinder.

I got a cheap one from Harbor Freight and I love it. I think it cost me $17.

I just took apart two of my hatches. I went around the outer rim of the ply wood with a router and a pit as low as I could go without cutting into the outer shell. If you go that rout extend that plywood out a little closer to the edge. The stock plywood in my hatch was 6x6 inches pieces of plywood. Not sure why they do them this way my replacement will be a solid piece of wood.

I know what ya mean Still, my foredeck and transom cap were 5x5 inch pieces glassed together. Couldnt believe it when i saw it. I guess they did it like that to make a smooth bow and get good contact with the glass. Not sure.
