What type of Resin
What type of resin did Wellcraft use when they built the V20? Mines a 1980and there are several areas that I what to repair/modify and if I can get away with the polyester resin I will. I know that the polyester won't bond to epoxy but it will bond to itself.

Re: What type of Resin
2ndchance go with the epoxy. I don't know what Wellcraft used but the epoxy will give you the strongest secondary bond. (I slept at a Holiday), no from my research and Skools and Stinky input epoxy is your best bet. More dollars but a better bond. Billy Mac ;D

Re: What type of Resin
Now you tell me ;). After I spent another C note on West System Epoxy for my fuel tank cover. Oh well its only money and the fuel tank cover does need to be strong. Here are some pics of the fuel tank cover being repaired. First I had to grind off what was left of the 48 plywood sqaures
http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207089.jpg After grinding pic http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207090.jpg After a blowing off and a wipe down with acetone I mixed the West sys. epoxy and added the stuff to make a paste. Then I laid it out on my shed floor and spread the epoxy out and laid a solid peice of plywood down on it with 4 cinder blocks on top for weight. Aint no way I'm using 48 little sqaures of plywood. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aft2207091.jpg I'm going to let it cure over night and then glass the inside. |

Re: What type of Resin
Highly recommend you use epoxy. The best source that I have found is Progressive Epoxy Polymers, Inc. Visit: www.epoxyproducts.com March 5, 2007 purchased 1.5 gallon of their Basic No- Blush epoxy for $77.00 plus $16.57 shipping. Understand epoxy prices are going up very soon. This company also provides E-mail support.
If anyone knows of a cheaper source, please advise. |
Re: What type of Resin
If you are concerned about gonding then go with epoxy, I rarely use it though die to expense. Fiberglass resin seems to have done ok for me so far. What kinda loot yall paying for epoxy resin? Just curious?
Good job so far on the hatch...lookin good. 8) |
