Wet Sanding

What can I can, it Sucks >:( Spent the day today wet sanding, compounding and then waxing a small arera.
Does it look better then before. Yes. Is there a shine, Yes. Is it as good as I wanted to look. NO ! >:(

Might have a chance to paint the hull on Friday with Awlgrip. Looks for future postings on a newly painted hull come friday.....I hope. Will find out more in the morning. If it happens, it means its time to kick it in to overdrive and fill the bow rail holes, snap holes that I removed and sand the wax off the hull, tape and prep before Friday morning.

Here's a pix. Its a crappy pix, but still a pix. ;D

Re: Wet Sanding

Was using 1000 grit. Thinking I may could have gone a slight harder, 900 or something, thats if they make it.

Hammer,

I did mine and brought out plenty of shine. I started with 1000 but proceeded through 1500 and 2000. I almost took it to 2500 but the Porter Cable and polish did the trick. I used the 3m fiberglass restorer followed by some good automotive polish - LOTS of work.

Flounder, thanks for stepping in. I seen your pics., but couldnt remember who posted them. I might not have sanded hard enough. I'm off Friday, so might give it one more shot. It does have a shine, but still have spots of oxidation here and there.
Might have a chance to spray it this weekend, still waiting to hear back on some free awlgrip. if I dont hear back, I'll be resanding I figure.

Might have a buyer already. Guy is suposed to come and look at it. Seen me working on it in the boat yard.
1300 as is or 3000.00 with the Johnson motor installed.
Want to sell it, but still want to work on it. ??? :-/

When I took the original sharks off the side of my boat, I removed the stained area with 600 grit wet and dry paper. then buffed it out with the 3m products. Only had to go over it lightly. Billy Mac ;D

Re: Wet Sanding

I'm right about at 1200 into her. Damm West System. It works great, but big bucks $$.
Seen guying laying cloth today on a wood boat using poly resin at 40 bucks a gallons. Looks to do about the same but at alot less.
Mac, if I can find something just under 1000 grit, I'll retry the wet sanding.
