steering
well i took her home today[ very sad day for me ]and im going to tackle the steering problem
im going to take the rod out of the tube and clean out the tube my question is this how do you take the rod out unloosen the bolt and it should slide out or do i have to do something else |
Re: steering
You can disconect the cable from the steering wheel gears and
that will loosen up the cable. You may have to loosen the transom bolts on the motor. While you have it apart, do yourself a favor and buy a greasing nut. I will look for the post and get the link over here. |
Re: steering
You undo the steering arm, then on the other side you undo the big nut, after that you ohope its not to rusted in there and you can pull it out, any trouble use a socket on the end and drive it out.
Extrem cases heat and a few choice words will help alot!! Also if you are lucky you won't have to remove the motor!! But I belive you are going to have to get the motor lose and at lease get it to slide over or you never geting the thing out!! |

Re: steering
I wish there was a way to insert pix right into our posts,
without using Photobucket. They just changed our servers at work and now Photobucket and a whole lot of other sites are blocked. |
Re: steering

Re: steering

Well at least he didnt buy a Bayliner. ;D

Re: steering
He probably did like I did and disconnected the
cable from the steering gear, then you can pull the cable through the hull to get it cleared from the engine. |
