Trim Tabs

I'm looking at some trim tabs for my '87 cuddy with a 200 mercury.

What do you guys have?

Doug, do a search there was some past discussion on tabs. I think there are only a couple guys that have them installed on this site. Its somthing that every body wants but hasn't spent the money or got started yet. Lenco eletric 12V or Bennet 12V HYD are a good choice both run about the same. Bennets can be automatic self leveling if desired. Most people who have installed say it is the best money spent to improve ride conditions. Also check out www.thehulltruth.com You can also ask Tabman on this site, he is a Bennet Rep. Crusher

Thanks Crusher,

I did search but found nothing, I didn't try real hard though.

I searched at hull truth but didn't ask tabman yet, I figured the info I got here would likely be better.

Thanks again, now all I have to do is scratch up the $$.

Re: Trim Tabs

Here you go!!

When doing search you have to change the settings.
Read the how to section under General to learn how to do this.

Good Luck!

Re: Trim Tabs

Hey Garbubba, I installed the Lenco's on my V20 Fish very recently, and have used the boat twice since.
Install was easy, just be sure to use plenty 3M 5200 around all holes in transom.
The tabs work great and react very fast, so pay attention.
My only complaint is that the static setting should be more aggressive. I set mine to the recommended spot and would have liked more trim. Instead of remounting the acuator I am going to put a 1" spacer between the tab and acuator.
The ride quality definetly got better. I have not done any fuel comparisons yet.
Trim tabs definetly are worth the $$$.
Now all I need is that new engine.

Long Lost Cbuzz . . . . Are you going back to Mexico again this year? or are you waiting for the new engine?

Re: Trim Tabs

Going back to Mexico in Sept. But only as far as San Quintin. That is on the Pacific side about 200 miles down.
Should have a shot at Yellow fin tuna, dorado, striped marlin and yellow tail.
I did make a short trip in April back to Bay of LA. Much less eventful this time (fortunately). Got into some Yellow tails of about 10-15 lbs. Also caught giant squid to about 25 lbs.
We have a great King Salmon season this year (it is still going) There have been fish caught weighing up to 47 lbs. My biggest was only 22 lbs.
I leave this friday for Kodiak Alaska for a week. I will try to post some pics when I get back.
