Re: Now say to your self
Everyday we have our kids sit down and have dinner with us. Ask them how their day was. Make them talk to us. It usually starts like pullin' teeth but they always open up.
Too many familys aren't familys. They are just a group of people living in the same house. A freind of mine is starting a family. He asked me for advice. I said it is easy if you remember you are a parent 24/7 w/ no time off. You have to deal with everything as is arrives. You put it off, you get huge problems. Keith |
Re: Now say to your self
Well said gentlemen.
Indeed, parenting is a full time job that begins at day one and, if I may say, is a God-given privilege and responsibility. Children need parents to train them how to live and to instill morals. Left to themselves, children will not learn these things. Have you ever noticed that you don't need to train your children how to lie? They seem to learn that all by themselves. So, they need to be taught to tell the truth, honor their parents, to not cheat or steal, etc. Anyway, I better stop there or else I'll end up turning this into a sermon ;) |
Re: Now say to your self
You guys all make good points, but some different perspective for you from years of observation as a parent and the other end when they go bad.
There most certainly is, without a doubt kids that go bad inspite of good parents and good upbringing with all the values taught and dicipline when needed. I don't know if it is peer group learning, just genetically a badseed or those and a dozen other causes such as drugs etc. but they go bad inspite of the best parenting, I've seen it dozens of times and it is a heartbreaker when I do. Sometimes I hear others comment about the parents when some a$$hole kid does something and its on the news or some other group setting and it makes me upset because I know better. |
