Dumb and dumber

This boat lost power and had no anchor, no VHF radio and no life jackets. They decided to try a beach landing.

The result was having to cut a hole in the hull to extract an occupant.

If I'm ever in the same stuation, somebody remind me to just JUMP OUTTA THE FREAKIN' BOAT ...look how deep (shallow) the water is in front of the wave that flipped 'em ...guess they figured if they could ride it all the way in, they wouldn't get their Weejuns wet ::) ...

Glad they're OK, though... :) ...where was that, Tin...beach sand is black...

Re: Dumb and dumber

one problem is they let them selfs get side ways!! They should have bee trying to use a paddle as a ruter and stay stright.

But no matter as when they did get to the shore they would have never been strong anough to get the boat on the beach, and it would have been smached by the waves any way.

Well they won't be doind that again for a while!!

In the second pic, Dumber has a paddle in his hand.

In the ocean with no anchor, vhf or PFD's

Yeah, if I was "Dumb" as we approached the beach, I would have requested Dumber to whack me in the temple with it cause this is gonna hurt worse and I dont wanna remember it. :o ::)

Its amazing that more of these guys dont get killed or kill someone else every year . I live on the intercoastal and see them go by my house all the time and you can tell its just an accident waiting to happen. Over loaded boats, no lights at night, no life jackets or raidio etc etc etc. I came in the Beaufort inlet about dark last night and Sea tow , the Marine Patrol and the Coast Guard had a 55 or 57 Viking sport fishie stopped right at the old coast guard station. Seems he came under the bridge about half throttle and bounced a couple of the little aluminum spot brigade fisherman up on the rocks but no one was hurt just shook up. He then throttles up full speed all the way through the NO WAKE zone and one of the tugs calls in his number and they get him within a few minutes...I've never been a fan of government over regulation but I am all for some kind of mandatory safe boater class even if it cost a few bucks. I have a good friend who drives sport fishies for a living that wont have his drivers license back for a long time and will probably go to jail if he has another drinking incident of any kind but he is out on the water everyday running folks out 60 miles and sneaking a shot all day long. Two weeks ago a wooden shrimper hit the green marker and ran aground after destroying two docks and his tanks burst causing a small fuel spill right across from Jarrett Bay boat works. He was drunk with no insurance and the boat had to be salvaged so we all ended up paying for that operation in the long run. I like to have a drink now and then but not behind the wheel ...Frank
