Blue's Turkey Week Huntin'

Monday 11/20 @ 7:50 am - got me a 5 point buckaroo in my back yard hunting out of my shed 8) Kids were getting ready for school when I unleashed a hellfire missle 10 yards from the house ;D Neck shot at about 20 yards - ain't goin ANYWHERE. Kids go, what was that momma? Momma says, awe, its just daddy puttin a buck outta his misery. ;D Estimated weight around 130 - 135lbs.

Saturday 11/25 @ 8:30 am - got me a basket 8 pointer (small) that was chasing a split-tail all over the friggin woods. I took this one on our main hunt off one of dad's stands (sorry pops :-/) cause I took my brother in law with me. Estimated weight 120 - 125lbs.

Shot twice while he was runnin and missed. Actually I found out later that the 2nd shot pierced his ear just above his skull :o I think that's why he quit runnin :-/ That or maybe the fact that I was whistling try to make him stop and look up at me. Anyway, he stopped behind a tree and I readied the trusty woodmaster 30/06. He walked out from behind the tree and I let him have it! Another neck shot! Sweeeet! Good front shoulders ;D

Sunday 11/26 - grilled t-loin over charcoal. Cut the t-loin in 1-inch thick slices, wrapped bacon around the outter edge just like fillet mignon. Couple of toothpicks, then marinated for couple of hours in 1/2 balsalmic vinigrette and 1/2 italian dressing. Cook to medium/medium rare over hot coals - used a little Dale's for dippin - OMG it just don't get any better than this 8)

I've been seeing tons of deer this year. I've been hunting at least 10 - 12 times and have seen deer every time except opening day.

I think they're in rut pretty good down here right now. A good friend that has killed HUGE deer said he saw a monster buck crossing the road in front of my house Saturday morning on his way to hunt, so I'll be lookin to marinate his tail.

BTW, my 30/06 is automatic. I haven't shot at a target in 8 - 10 years and she's dead on.
