GUNS OF LEWES
I see no windtalkers here today. *;D
Well, I guess I'll start blowing some wind a bit. *;D A few of the big guns in Lewes at the park that use to be the Fort Miles Army base. Guns were in place to shoot at subs laying mines in the Bay. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/DSC02092.jpg |

Re: GUNS OF LEWES
Fort Miles was also a prison camp for prisoners of war. German prisoners were put to work around town. Trust me, nothing that to hard. Not as hard as our guys had in the German camps. At the end of the war "WW-2", a german sub surrendered in Lewes. The sub was kept and now on display I think in IL.

The big gun were inside of concrete bunkers covered by the sand dunes. They still have half a dozen underground bunkers in the park, but are sealed up.

Yo Airslot, yeah, I spent the day looking out over the ocean. It was pretty flat out there. Tons of boats, but nobody caught anything.
