Fitzwright Immersion Suit Well now that its cold enough down here I decided to test out my orange ebay $67.00 Gumby suit in the intercoastal..Last night I dropped my boat down to about water level on the lift , stripped down to my shorts , put it on and jumped in the water feet first and immediately bobbed up and started floating on my back towards my friend who was waiting on his dock about a hundred or so yards with a hook and throw ring . I managed to paddle backwords against the current to set up a good drift and easily climb up his dock ladder but movement is very restricted in these things. The strobe worked great and the head and full body flotation was outstanding and it was very warm except for my face. If anyone is thinking about getting one I would highly recommend the Fitzwright which is made in canada and has full booties and three finger attached gloves, lift harness and rings etc. Mine is an XXL that goes on quick against bare skin but is a little hard to get on over clothes and came with a waterproof bag about the size of a small back packing tent that is easily stowed...Frank |

Re: Fitzwright Immersion Suit Yes, a guy in florida had two so I got both and a dive friend of mine bought the other one...It was over christmas and not many people were bidding so I got it cheap and it looks like new with no holes or rips..The other one had a small patch on the leg ...Frank |

Re: Fitzwright Immersion Suit I would look like a Orange seal in one of them!! :( How big are you?? But do they run real big?? Or is that what you normal wear and could have used a bigger one? Not to be funny, but I am 350 pounds, and were 3X shirts, I bought 3X Grundens and I can swim in them!! They are really big! |

Re: Fitzwright Immersion Suit macojoe: I'm 6'4 235 and it fits tight on me but my diver captain friend says they are supposed to fit tight. After a little practice I can get it on and zipped up in less than 30 seconds..I would doubt if you could get into it if you go 350 . The other one I got was an Xl and it fits my friend who is 6 foot even and about 200. Most of the language on mine is in french but it has the size XXL and some instructions in english but no other measurements..I dont know if they make an XXXL or if any of the other companies make one but I am very satisfied with mine..its one of the few marine things I've bought that actually does what it says it will do..I would guess they are pretty expensive if you were to buy a new one...Most of the suits that I looked at on ebay were medium to large so I lucked out as this one is a real XXL and I wear 2x shirt so if you could find an XXXL it would probably fit. I saw a special on alaskan king crab fishermen a while back and some of those russian american fishermen were big guys so someone makes them big...Frank |
